My first thought for the project was to make a cigar humidor because these boxes are elegant and aesthetically pleasing but mainly because I'm a big cigar connoisseur and wouldn't mind building a smaller 15 count box to sit along side my 100 count. The only issue with this would be wood selection. Since the inside of the box needs to maintain a humidity level close to 70%, dry Spanish Cedar would be ideal. Other types of wood can be used like American Red Cedar or Honduran Mahogany but they won't keep away tobacco beetles or maintain the flavor of the cigars as well. Spanish cedar would have to come from a specialty wood shop I suppose or be ordered. I wouldn't mind coming up with some money to support this and I can talk to Tim more about it and see what his opinion is. Nonetheless, I could just create a stage prop without the fancy but it would be nice to having something that works.
If the humidor doesn't work out, I think a desk would be the next best thing. Something simple with a decent amount of space on the plane but also a few drawers on the side like shown. I don't necessarily need the thinner drawer across the top but that could be cool if I found the time. I think for this project, access to hardware for the sliding drawers might be a problem so that may need to be discussed.
